Thank you for this. I was advised once that there was some English case law that in a members club/society that every member had a right to know the name only of all other members.
Certainly in another society to which I belong there is a requirement that to become or continue as a member that each member must consent to his or her name being available to all other members.
Personally I think that the provision of and updating of membership lists is a chore that the unpaid volunteers who run the society could well do without. It may be as well to quote the Data Protection Act to avoid so doing!
My original query was framed with the thought that if there was a list generally available, then it would be useful to see it. As it is not then I am content.
