Peter - yes I suppose that is what I'm trying to find out. I picked the copy up from my local bookshop yesterday because it looked interesting. The lady in the shop said that she had made an half-hearted attempt to research it, but hadn't had time to follow up, and suggested I try the Arthur Ransome Society for further information. Hence the posting .... I don't know anything about proof-reading practise in the 1930s, and hope to find out exactly what it is I have bought. Thanks for your info.
