I think I'm inclined to agree with Peter H on this occasion but I have a few random observations
1) I thought arithmetic was a set of syllogisms and not amenable to empirical analysis
2) you assume that "dowse" is a stable and easily agreed upon phenomenon. Is twisting a twig over a patch of reeds the same as wving a pendulum over a map?
3) I was objecting to the notion of a "chromosome that causes doowsing" will some day be discovered not to the possibility that some people might find water by some method some people call dowsing
