All of our skills have to be based in the genes. Mendel proved that a long time ago.

Remember when Dot explains about Dick going into a world of his own: in this case the thought of how you prove this hypothesis does that to me.

It is not the hypothesis it is the challenge. I get the same challenge from estimating deaths in earthquakes or how to measure the growth of a brick. Ah.......the old art of Japanese stone watching - watching for it to grow. Bit like watching paint drying only slower.
Of course I could measure it - but could not see it till the thing broke.
