I've been thinking about ice lately. The lakes around my area have about 26 inches of ice which is almost enough to carry a 65 ton main battle tank. This is currently only on the waterways with no currents underneath. 28 inches is preferable. Of course I've also drilled through seven feet of sea ice in the arctic to go fishing.

Dick's frozen fish could be a small whale with that much ice.

Just remember, the best part of winter camping is the lack of bugs.
