Certainly bacon in the UK is very different from what we in the US usually eat- often, it's what we would call 'Canadian' bacon.

In one of the James Herriot books, he mentions a farmhouse with a slab of bacon hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen- this bacon is almost pure fat. (He didn't like fat, and ate it slathered in piccalilli)

In Pigeon Post, Susan and Peggy toss a coin- the winner gets to cook.

I was able to get whole (actually cut into fryer sections) rabbit when I lived in Orlando- see if you can find a rabbit breeder. Here in Southern California, I see it in the freezer section sometimes.
