I agree with Peter and Dave - Port and Starboard in the film were too young. But of course that is the problem with any film of the books - we all have our own way of visualizing the characters, and are disappointed with how many of them are cast in films. Since I met the S&A's when some of them were a couple of years older than I was, I always think of them as sort of young adults, never children.

While we are on the subject of the film, I was very disappointed that they left out the Port and Starboard race to catch up with the Teasel. That is probably my favorite bit of Ransome writing. I love the rapid pace of it, ending with the quiet evening on the Welcome, and discovering that they were among friendly strangers.
