Sorry that the pictures come out so big - I will spend some time and fix that tomorrow.

Where do I find Coots in the North - which book is it published in?

Does anybody know why a gauge 12 rove is bigger than a gauge 13. In metric that makes no sense and I have not struck gauge in my imperial experience?

I have to buy a rove punch - the Davey ones here are 45 dollars and about 10 to post. I just want to make sure I get the right one.

Finally how firmly is firmly to punch down on the rove?

How short should I make the nail after the rove is installed?

Well this is a lot of fun. And a learning experience.

I tried the copper nails and roves with an old nut and it seals tight on a test strip but the nail does not lie nicely. I am assuming (?) that I will have to countersink the head of the nail in the oak, does one countersink the rove?

The instructions are not very explicit.

And finally Davey want 3 pounds for a cattle dog, and there is nothing on their web site. Took me about an hour to track them down in Essex.
