Luckily for me, everyone had wood shop in 7th grade, metal/leather (interesting combo) shop in 8th, their choice in 9th. Both started with basic drafting and 3-view drawings. I went for wood in 9th as we wee getting busier on the sailboard-building then. Add in an engineer father and a house perpetually under construction. Then as a geology major I needed to learn mapping skills (including necessary drafting) . . .
