Why didn't Mrs Dixon cook eggs with the bacon? They kept hens on the farm and the D's ate eggs - they were given them in the first tranche of food in P&M.
Is this some strange Cumbrian custom?
If you were frying eggs, you would certainly hold the pan at an angle on the stove to cook the eggs in the fat in the angle beween the pan side and bottom.
You could always finish with fried bread to mop up the fat and cut down on the pan cleaning.
