What I find myself doing is visiting the Lake District for a couple of days in between trips from someplace to someplace else, and while there I get nostalgic all over for the books that first got me hooked on the place. So I wait for a rainy day (usually about a five minute wait) and then visit a local bookshop to buy yet another copy of whatever AR book I am thinking about at the time. My excuse is always that "I can give this to someone when I get home..." which is, of course, exactly what I do.

The most successful gifts have been to my older sister, who teaches 4th grade in coastal New Jersey. I don't know if any of her students have been hooked... but she has!
