Squashed fly biscuits is not the "official" commercial name for Garibaldi, just what nasty young people call them to gross each other out.

As for seed cake, I have made that for a TARSCanada getogether. It is basically a pale cake with caraway seeds baked into it. Perhaps like a poppyseed cake which is more common in North America. After a soaking it would probably fall apart unless very stale. However, if only a little damp it might hold together for frying.
