In the mid 70's I went with a group of children to the Calvert Trust Adventure centre near Keswick, and there was an elderly lady who gave us dinghy sailing instruction. Towards the end of the course she said she was the original for 'Peggy'. Her name was Pauline Marshall, and she had patented a design for a swinging seat that people with spina biffida could use to sail a dinghy with. She was a sparkling character, and I believed her. She wqas a five foot nothing firework!
But... did I really meet Peggy? Can anyone confirm this or shoot it down (Please don't!!)
