My version of MS Word offers under “Tools-Language-Set Language” the options of English for Australia, Belize, Canada, Carribean, Ireland, Jamica, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Trinidad, UK or US (US last!). Plus other languages too.

But what makes MS Word such a pain to use (I prefer MS Works, which includes WP plus S/S and Database) is Autoformat (though theoretically I think you can turn Autoformat off somewhere).

In MS Word, if you start a line with a number (eg a telephone number, or a personal number of some sort ie regimental or social security) the program will decide either that the next line should start with a telephone number which is one number higher, or that you want a new (inset) paragraph (neither of which I wanted).

Does Bill Gates always write programs designed only for his fellow geeks?
