I haven’t read SW since the late 60’s and am now re-reading it almost as if for the first time, which is great fun. I have just finished reading the “Marooned” chapter, but my more practical mind of more mature years is bothering over some details. When the Swallows boarded Goblin to embark on their adventure, they rowed to her in the dinghy Wizard, as the yacht was at anchor in the estuary at Pin Mill. The Swallows are dropped off at their island, and Commander and Mrs Walker sail Goblin back to Pin Mill minus the dinghy. I wonder, how then did they manage to get from Goblin back to the hard without the dinghy? Maybe some friendly natives helped them out.

I can’t believe I’m the first and I doubt I will be the last, but I have just discovered that in the picture of the Meal Dial, if the stick’s shadow is to fall on the small posts in the correct order, the sun will need to travel the wrong way across the sky! Maybe they needed Dick to make it. How many times has that one been posted on TarBoard?
