Did Great Northern Divers actually nest in Scotland or was the whole thing a Spoof.

According to an article by Molly McGinnis in the newsletter of our southern neighbours ("Signals from TARSUS" May 2004) there were confirmed nestings of Great Northerns in Scotland in 1970 and 1996. The newsletter (Dave Thewlis being much more organised than I am) is available on line through the AR site.

Molly also says that there were none known at the time AR wrote, so to that extent the bird's behaviour was fictional -- but obviously not impossible.

NB: If any Canadian TARS are wondering why our newsletter has not appeared for some time -- it is because no-one has sent me anything to publish!
