According to the Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language (a present from my wife who well knows my odd interests) the Papau-New Guinea lingua franca is properly Tok Pisin. A sample from a comic-book version of Daniel in the lions' den has the following speech from Darius to his counsellors after releasing Daniel unharmed:
“Yupela i laik bagarapim Daniel a? Orait mi bekim yupela stret. Yupela gat, putim ol long hul bilong laion.”
Easy, eh? Glossary:
yupela = you (you + fellow)
laik = want, like
bagarapim = ruin, damage (in Nicholsese “b*gger up)
orait = all right, fix
mi = I, me
bekim = give back, repay (back)
stret = straight away
gat = get
long = indicates location (along)
hul = hole
bilong = indicates possession (belong).
Now we need someone to translate the AR canon into Tok Pisin.
