Fired up with enthusiasm after reading Ransome I went to my local W H Smith bookshop and ordered "Sailing". Imagine my surprise and delight when afer a couple of months a brand new "Small Boat Sailing" (an updated edition published posthumously) actually arrived! Mind you that would have been in 1962 or thereabouts. I now also have a copy of "Sailing" obtained - as you suggest - through the Internet.

But not if they require you to do so because they think they are rich and important and that peasants should defer to them as a matter of course. It is like not giving way to people driving BMWs on the road

Not sure I follow. In Poland all the BMW drivers push everybody else into the gutter. This was a serious problem until I brought over my Landrover!
