AR on a Japanese newspaper column

Hi,

Just would like to tell you that, AR was the subject in the front page column of the Asahi, the leading Japanese newspaper on our national holiday (Marine Day, 18-July). The English translation was on the combined edition of International Herald Tribune-Asahi.

It may be unsurprising in UK that AR being a subject on newspaper, but here, AR seems to be (sadly) rather unpopular; you may imagine how unusual it is to find it in the most popular newspaper column of the country.

In addition, this was during our annual summer camping in a northern lake in Japan, in a very AR-ish style with a sailboat, cooking on an openfire. Someone received an early morning e-mail about this news, then a sailboat and a rowboat was sent for to get the paper from the nearest local newsstand, which was on the other side of the lake. When the paper arrived, all of us listened to it read aloud just like in a manner of S&A children listening to the telegram from Father. No wonder all of us rejoiced.
