When a Trojan was stationary, it was still 'in gear' because it had an epicyclic, i.e. 'sun and planet' gearbox, and I assume that this can be set so as to 'cancel out' any motion applied to it. How the torque was actually applied, I don't know - I think it was via a 'band' of some sort. I'm struggling here - is there a mechanical engineer on the Board? JMN must surely know - spit it out, Prof!
