it also makes assumptions - a lot of them true, that the majority of women have grown up without being exposed to many tools or the innards of machinery and therefore, need a manual that goes right back to the beginning and explains everything, and I mean everything!
Nowdays it isn't that women don't have the opportunity to become familiar with tools/machinery and the rest, its simply that we, along with many men, don't have either the time or the interest. Once work is over my spare time is spent renovating a house and garden, or planning more of same. But if your hobby is tinkering with engines, go right ahead!
