I agree with Colin: It is my least favorite as well. It is the most boring book - always going aground in mud. It does have a few high points, such as Chapter 26, RED SEA CROSSING, EGYPTIANS, and Chapter 12, BLOOD AND IODINE.
In the 1991 Vol.1, No.2 edition of MIXED MOSS, there is a must read article, The Amazons: Gatecrashers in Secret Water. The author essentially suggests that the Amazons were brought in to make the book less boring. I think the attempt failed.
