The role played by the Amazons is unusual. They are principals, yet rarely if ever, do we see the action through their eyes. Nancy is a deus ex machina that drives the story from scene to scene. Even in SW where the power balance tilts in John's direction, it is Nancy and not John who ensures that the map is finished. In WH Nancy is 'absent', but her role as driving force remains undiminished.
