If the modelling is "correct". You would expect the virtual trails to conform to to certain patterns as predicted by the maths. Take the charged particle one Crossley girl, called Ruth. This is a simplification, of course, there were two Crossley girls, but the mathmatics involved in dealing with two girls is almost impossibly complex and if we accept the simplification we can get an approximate result without using quantum mechanics.

The girl's father owned a motor car factory, a country house, a "holiday cottage" on Windmere more or less where you'd expect Beckfoot to be, the steam yacht "Esperance" (the model for Captain Flint's houseboat). The girls sailed a small dinghy on Windmere from a boathouse decorated with a huge skull and crossbones on the outside. Modelling the likely behaviour of Ruth in such a household (cloud chamber analogy) gives us the following phenomena: having suddenly to dash off in an attempt to arrive on time for meals (SA, SD, PM); conformity with native dress codes (SD, PM?); and a 'hidden' secret life (SD. PM.)

Modelling the likely interaction of young Arthur and Ruth's father gives a high likelihood of an very embarassing lecture. Look at the begining of SA and the state of John after his dressing down by the owner of the houseboat. It is very realistic. Did it happen to AR?
