Roger & Money: In SD he has in his pocket the halfpenny they leave in the tin box at the top of Kanchenjunga, to add to the farthing left 30 years before. And when they are looking for ready cash (Ch 21 of WD, to telegraph home) Roger says yes he has 2/7d - but it is at home! Sisters turn away. NB: 2/7d ie not half a crown or 2/6d (but it could be half a crown plus a penny).

Other mention of money - in BS when they are looking for the lawyer’s charge of 6/8d or a third of a pound (£), though Mr Farland says he is employed by the boatyard, and acting more as a judge (in recommending whether the yard should prosecute - or not, if they confess). He refuses their money.

PS: re word counts, WD & WH have exactly the same (91484).
