Prue - you've 'written several books'. Have you had them published? If so, well done. If not, then maybe it's because you didn't 'take them seriously'. Yes, we all like to think that Ransome is just fun, but have you ever thought how much work, say, Christina Hardyment put into her book AR & Captain Flint's Trunk? If she had done it 'for a laugh' then it would have got nowhere. I suggest that people who play everything for laughs (and I've met them) are also 'a tad tedious', and they are usually 'losers'.
By the way, you say 'anything other than life or death' Er, what is there, other than life or death?
