folding boats (as in Great Northern)

I have a friend who is trying to find out more about folding boats as he has been given one. I thought there might be TARS who knew something, as the Swallows Amazons and D's used one in Great Northern to get to the island where the diver was nesting. Does anyone remember seeing any articles in back numbers of Mixed Moss or Despatches? Farewell and adieu.
