I was wary of Club Hut initially as I am unhappy with exclusive groups, particularly within a Society such as TARS. However, I strongly agree that we should not have spirited discussions on a "public" web site as the intentions could easily be misunderstood by any one reading the messages out of context.

The password is the only reasonable way of ensuring that only members have access and its very easy to obtain one from Ian.

Regarding the recent debates. Overseas members were at no greater disadvantage than most of the UK members. In fact the AGM papers which were circulated world wide contained all the information that was available. Nothing was "kept back" despite the views expressed by some TARBOARD and S2M contributors.

TARBOARD members are considered by the Trustees, Alan Hakim, Dave Sewart and I all keep a watching brief and report at Board meetings. The comments made on TARBOARD have prompted me to include E-TARS on Board agendas in future.

Those of us who have access to the Internet must remember that the vast majority of TARS members do not have access to e-mail and TARBOARD and have no idea of the discussions that take place in "virtual reality". The recent selection of messages in Mixed Moss was a welcome addition to bringing the two groups closer together.

Finally, Malcolm Temple's observations were not those of the Trustees, as he retired at the Ullapool AGM and is now a Vice- President.
