I am sorry that Jock will not discuss this topic privately. I wouldn't have thought that all this is of much interest to other Tarboarders. I'll be brief: I think Jock and Prue have been totally unfair. Prue's original statement anyone who takes anything other than life or death too seriously can be a tad tedious could have referred to me personally. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and assumed she was talking generally. I wish she and Jock had given my responding post (which expressly referred to people I have met) the equal benefit. (This isn't the first time this has happened, but Jock is not to know this. There have been previous Tarboard 'Sir Galahads'. That is something I wished to explain to Jock privately.) Equally, I can't reconcile Prue's statements that (a) she doesn't take her books seriously, and (b) she works very hard on them. To me, the two don't seem to go together, but of course I got the flak for pointing this out.

As, Jock, you insist on pursuing the A/B comparison, let me pluck out one sentence from B - 'On Tarboard you're among friends and we all wish you well' 'We all?' Who is 'we'? Everyone who posts on Tarboard? What authority have you to represent the views of all Tarboarders? You are of course wrong - I know of at least one person (male) currently posting who certainly does not wish me well! That's life, but 'B' certainly isn't life - it's cliche-ridden, insincere, and more like Radio 4's 'Thought for the Day'.

BTW I notice you are having another little go at me on another thread - what's bugging you? Jock, I have had to deal with tougher cookies than you on Tarboard in past years. Shall we call a truce? And for heaven's sake, LGBTAR!
