As all readers of Joseph Conrad's "Typhoon" are aware, the flag of the Kingdom of Siam was a white elephant on a red ground.

Wow, Andrew, you either give yourself too little credit or the rest of us too much. I reread Typhoon not long ago. But I do not remember that being mentioned in the story. Does it feature prominently and I'm simply revealing what a lousy reader I am?
