I've just realised that Ian's search engine which lurks unobtrusively at the top right hand corner of Tarboard cas one amazing undocumented feature. Not only does it search the current board, but somehow by magic it searches the zipped messages as well.

For example, if you want to find out everything that ever appeared about mines you type mine (preceeded by a space) just afterthe inurl:/tarboard/messages prompt. You then get a list of references, including references in zipped messages!

... A friend of mine was called Prudence, she lives in Sydeny now. ...

Re: Swallows & Amazons Bird Book (Was MAP of Secret Water)
... Take a virtual tour of Slater Bob's mine (link to a load of educational
info on slate and copper mining...) It would be fantastic. ...

Now I'm not sure what the mysterious 'base2' is, but message 13703 can be found in lapsed messages, shoebox 31.

Another undocumented feature, the search engine has a will of its own. For example, if I want to look for all the postings made by ***** * it only comes up with 4 references and yet he has made hundreds of posts to Tarboard.

Amazing! How does it work? Not sure. Anyone any theories?
