Joy - thanks for your views, which have made me feel a lot better. I suppose I am up against 'sailor's humour' on Tarboard. There are fatal sailing accidents reported every year on the English Lakes - there was one no so long ago, caused by a capsize. Forgive me, I am not a sailor, but I would have thought that if a boat 'turned turtle' ie completely over, anyone in the boat is in real trouble. I may be wrong about this, but I note that when Swallow went down (a welcome return to AR, please note) it did not invert, and the Swallows more or less floated out. I wonder what would have happened if Swallow had 'turned turtle'?

Joy mentioned 'people getting hurt on Tarboard'. I have had a basinful of this - 'Peter H and a keyboard', Cardinal Ratzinger, Gutenberg, 'turning turtle' etc etc, and quite honestly, it has got to me. Can Jock and John understand that?

Finally - sailing - why do yachtsmen always think that going out with them sailing will cure everything? 'Make a man of you', 'get things into perspective', 'enjoy yourself and relax' etc etc. Yes, I might try sailing, but I will go out with a non-macho type who isn't out to prove anything. And no drinking sessions, please, as alcohol solves nothing. Not exactly Trafalgar Day stuff, is it, but that's me, and all I ask is to be allowed to post about AR in peace.
