Peter:

I feel I can respond by post instead of email as this is a fundamental question to the Tarboard and you wrote to me by name.

I have to think about this one and I will get back to you later today.

However: My first thoughts on being attacked and I can tell you as an academic one gets attacked a lot (about once a week) is to tell them to go "Bruce it". But as this requires not a first jump in and throw the ball against the wall response I will ponder the matter.

(If you have a working knowledge of Old English then you understand the idiomatic reference to an early English King and the meaning of the phrase. I taught my daughter (11) this phrase so she wouldn't swear at people as much. I am sure Peter knows the idiom. Anyone who wishes to know the idioms' meaning can send an email and I am happy to reply, but Bruce essentially means to travel.)
