Peter - just to answer your technical question, yes you can setup and assume as many identities as you want (I'm assuming that Ian does not check any applicants and accounts are generated automatically).
As to your plan to 'resign', I can see what you mean and on occasions I just ignore threads or don't take part for the same reason. It is too easy to make comments etc that one probably wouldn't if it was a face-to-face discussion.
There's nothing to stop you just reading the threads, but then that is not the same. Though I have only taken part in Tarboard for a few years I do see what you mean by how it has changed.
