"How did you learn to sail?"

My first sailing experience was when I was about 12 I persuaded my Dad to take me up to WinderMere on holiday soon after I discovered Arthur Ransome. I went on a beginner's introduction sail in a Wayfarer I did not learn much on that first outing but the bug had bitten and I continued learning in Wayfarers and an Enterprise on reservoirs in the Lea Valley (London). By the time I was 15 I took out a 505 single handed with full rig and an extended tiller extension so I could use the trapeze. How I ever survived that Dufferish behavior I will never know!
