Swallow would have floated at least part out of the water once the lead was out, but it was neutrally bouyant and certainly not floating half out of the water. How much would each pig of lead weigh?

A steel centreboard is going to weigh down the boat.

I thought Andy lost a boat at sea, and those will float in salt a long time after they sink in fresh.

Did the Amazon sink when the accident occured.

Based on the unit mass of the timber used they should not sink.
