If we do a quick calculation on Silas' wage, he should be making about 13,000 pounds per year, although I notice from the previous post that there is not much money in farming in the UK.
Simple conclusion Silas is worse off in regards to the boat than he was 70 years ago. But in terms of prices generally he is three fold better off. How much did AR's original books cost? Doe snayone have one with the price quoted?
