If people had to pay tolls each day to use the roads in the same fashion as having to use the trains then roads would not be as popular. The pollution from cars is so bad for the environment.

Although every time I have been on London trains they are packed. The congestion charge appears to be working. Roads are a free lunch and maybe one day the pollies will realize this point. Road builders are a powerful lobby group.

I travelled AMTRAK from Chicago to Salt Lake City - it was great.
