Hmmm, a very good point. I have a major aversion to smoking (smell etc)but certainly by WW2 smoking was common for both men & women and Red Cross parcels contained cigarettes. During the war I believe it was encouraged as being good for calming nerves and both my parents smoked then although my father gave up sometime in the fifties.
Dangit, I'll have to have someone apart from John (gave him a pipe) smoking if only for realism.
Can't somehow see Susan in that role though.
