Andrew:

I accept your points. It is impossible to tell what causes a baby to be abandoned, and they are abandonded all over the world. A Chinese adopted baby was recently shaken to death in Tennessee by the adopting mother after only three months. The young girl was adopted thru our agency. It is a terrible crime.

I was bused in St Louis in 1968 because of forced integration. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I met some great people whom I would not have had the chance to otherwise meet under the old system of schooling.

Unfortunately, fertility issues are going to be one of the defining elements of this century, as is the environment, global warming and dependence on fossil fuels. The issues of the Western world not reproducing at a fast enough rate to survive at the present levels is another major issue. The 20th century will be remembered I am sure for doing nasty things to the world.

I to have quite a few Chinese friends and teach many Chinese students. I lived with a Chinese Professor for about 6 months and that was very interesting. I will teach my daughter to respect her native land. We are planning for her to have Chinese lessons. I will go with her to the lessons.

I also agree that you only have to look at Australia and USA etc to see terrible things. New Orleans is a bleeding example of poverty issues seen by the world lately. The stealing of the babies and children in Australia and the USA by the governments ranks up there with the great crimes of humanity.

China was civilized a long time before Western Europe. In another 50 years China should be back on top as the powerhouse economy of the world. Europe might keep pace, but the USA with 5% of the World's population is like a David without a rock.

The world has some serious problems. I can not fix them. And in a way we are selfish taking a Child from China to form part of an otherwise European family, but we thought about this adoption for a long time. Only time will tell if taking Catriona out of an orphanage to the USA was a good idea.

If my daughter is bright enough to find the old posts in the Tarboard and she has exercised her mind in mortal verbal and written combat with the cream of this board, then I am sure she will be able to cope with the truth. The truth might hurt a lot, but it is always better than even one white lie. She will be loved. I know that.

So I apologize if I offended with my statement.
