How are things going at the conference?
We are all well and recovering from the Christmas feast cooked by Grandma. The feast had all my favourite foods, goose, sweet potatoes, and pudding. I helped Grandma cook the goose, after Dick helped Grandpa kill the goose down by the woodshed. Dick was quite white in the face after the experience. He said he would rather not talk about it.
Today we climbed to the peak above Grasmere to look at the old cairn. Dick could not find any loose stones, and could not leave a message in Dad's old cigar tin brought specially for the purpose. There was a man with a black dog on the summit near the cairn taking photographs. Dick kept throwing a stick for the black dog, and the two tusselled over the stick for a long while.
Grandma and Grandpa send their best wishes. Catriona is having a lively time, with her father ringing on Christmas morning at 5am. Her father had gotten the time wrong in England and thought it was 9am. We went and jumped on Grandpa and Grandma's bed till they got up and then we opened presents. Grandpa gave Dick a beautiful Swiss Army knife with a black case so he can wear the knife on his belt. It even has a small wood saw.
Grandma got Dick the extra set of Class G rocket motors he wanted. Grandpa and Dick are going out later to fly his rocket before it gets to dark to see and find. Grandpa said to tell you that he would be very careful with the rocket, and he would check with the airforce to make sure the rocket was not flown when a plane was flying over the lake. Grandpa also said to say, "Yes, he remember frightening the life out of a RAF pilot in the summer, but he still thinks the Tornado pilot from the IX Squadron was only joking about how close the rocket came to the plane."
