My family have been to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and thoroughly enjoyed it. The opening scene revived very faint and disjointed memories of being rushed into our north London Anderson shelter towards the end of the war (my older brothers were evacuated, but I was too young to leave my mother). As someone areligious, I did not find the Christian allegory intrusive, though it is there if you look for it. I have also just re-read the book, and thought the movie a pretty good job of keeping to the text.

As one of my daughters commented on leaving the theatre: "Now they need to film Arthur Ransome".
