I would never judge a woman by her Mary Jane shoes and long dresses, and mock stern bearing.

I really like the look of Mary Jane shoes. At this point I am really struggling for words to convey the meaning. I see the GA as someone who lost her one true love to the Army and a war, she remained steadfast forever. Her one true love knew her as an exciting vibrant being, everyone else ends up seeing her as a cranky old maid wearing Mary Jane shoes. So I see Mary Jane shoes and I project the vibrancy of woman I know who appear GA'ish but have done great interesting things in the past and is more likely to be an interesting person.

I hope I am conveying my meaning.
