How about the fact that wild horses wouldn't have kept the Swallows away from the Lake the summer after SA ? Can you imagine being Mrs.Walker trying to explain to her brood that instead of returning to the Lake they had instead to spend their summer holidays travelling to meet their father on some foreign posting ? Mutineers and Black Spots wouldn't have been in it !
