I think the guide to the characters was by Bill Wright, and the (broken) link to his Guide is still on the AR website under Literary Pages - Guide to S & A novels.
When Dot’s sandshoe-print is found by Sammy the policeman in PM, it is the same size as Peggy’s, and a comment made that Dot has big feet for her age ie she is younger than Peggy.
In WH Dot thinks that Peggy is not much older than her. She overhears the “elders” discussing what use she would be; this is before Dick impresses them with his skating. John says it would be beastly to leave them out.
Re ages and school subjects, would Roger at eight or nine have done enough Latin at prepatory school to be best in Latin in ML, which encourages Missee Lee to persevere with her “class”.
