Yes, we have our favorites, but why do some of us condemn one story over others. All the books are like individual people, they are all different and all have positive features others don't have. If all the books were the same, we would probably not be expressing our viewpoints on this forum. If we are going to embrace Mr. Ransome's stories, then we should recognize that fact. I have always liked ALL the stories, as that is what they are - fun, individual stories. And, personally, I have thought Peter Duck and Missee Lee to be fun fantasies - in fact, when I first read them I took them as an integral part of the adventure series, as if they were on the Lake or on the Norfolk Broads. Peter Duck and Missee Lee are "believable" in the fact they they "could have" happened as is the case with all the stories. Aren't Mr. Tolkien's and C.S. Lewis's books pure fantasy - and yet we do not denigrate them because they are "unbelievable"?

We all have our own preferences and opinions, and that is good, as it sure would be a dull, dull world if we all liked and thought the same things.

Actually, Peter Duck and Missee Lee are among MY favorites of the series because they went further with the "make believe". I feel that they are stronger in this manner because of the other books in the series which set the characters and theme.
