The Amazons know about the harbour in SA because they have marked the safe way in with two marks (or rather one mark - a cross, and the fork of a tree). John makes them into Leading Lights for the night raid. So neither the Swallows or Amazons are too worried about the danger of going in through the hazardous rocks, even at night.
Perhaps Pike Rock was thought up for SD, when AR wanted Swallow wrecked and the Swallows on land!
