Jon - I notice you did not challenge anything that Jock asserted, but homed in on my post as usual. I think that if I said that AR was a jolly good author, in would come the posts arguing with me. Somewhat wearily, I will reply. I suggest that the Farland family were well-off. Racing skiffs do not come cheap, and Mr F could afford to take time off work to race. I may be wrong, in which case Jock is absolutely right, and therefore AR was a rabid socialist and detested the royal family, cheered on by Peter Ceresole. Now does that satisfy everybody? I do apologise for not accepting everything on Tarboard at face value.
