As I have evidently caricatured Jock's opinions, I apologise. However, at the time I did not really know what his opinions were and as usual had to guess. He has now stated them. To be fair, Jock, you do play a rather crafty hand on these occasions, and you can't complain too much if people jump to the wrong conclusion.
I agree on the whole with your AR 'anti-authoritarian' theory, although the Swallows have an internal discipline ('aye aye sir!') which it is unthinkable to defy.
