Threat from Polish reeds

Polish reeds (in Polish) Arghhh!

The reason that the water doesn't drip through the thatch, but instead runs along the reeds is because of hydrogen bonding which effectively 'glues' adjacent water molecules together and gives rise to the surface tension effect.
